What to Expect
This welcoming playgroup is designed especially for families from the Karen/Karenni cultural background. Expect plenty of singing, dancing, and opportunities for English speaking practice to support both children and adults.
The sessions are facilitated by VICSEG, ensuring a supportive and culturally sensitive atmosphere. It’s a fantastic chance to meet other families, share experiences, and build friendships.
You’ll also receive valuable information on women’s and children’s health, parenting in Australia, and available community services and supports.
Activity Details
The playgroup runs weekly on Thursdays from 9:30 to 11:30 in the morning. Activities include interactive play, music, and dance that encourage children’s development and social skills.
Parents and caregivers can practice English in a relaxed setting and gain insights into parenting in a new cultural context. The facilitator provides guidance and resources tailored to the community’s needs.
This is a free event, making it accessible for all families interested in participating.

The playgroup is held at the Manor Lakes Community Learning Centre, located at 86 Manor Lakes Blvd, Manor Lakes VIC 3024. The venue is community-focused and easy to access by car or public transport.
